The evenko foundation for emerging talent is proud to announce its donation of $30,000 to Musique aux Enfants. The Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal (OSM) initiative seeks to provide musical education for preschool and kindergarten aged youth in support of their overall development. The project, conceptualized by OSM conductor Kent Nagano, officially launches on November 30, 2016 and will run out of Saint-Rémi Primary School in Montreal North.

Musical education and scholastic retention are at the heart of the foundation’s contribution to this initiative. "Mr. Nagano's project falls exactly within the niche we want to support," said Anne-Marie Withenshaw, spokesperson for the evenko foundation. "The OSM's project opens a whole new door to our community. It is all the more important to support the leaders of tomorrow at an early age. With the OSM and other generous contributors, we are giving the next generation the means to channel their energy into creative, educational and rewarding projects."

Tangible Contributions to the Cultural Development of Youth

The evenko foundation contribution of $30,000 to the project helps cover the annual salary of a music teacher. By participating in this project, teachers will contribute to a scientific study on the benefits of music on student performance in conventional courses such as mathematics and French and also in their personal, social and family development. "We are more than proud to support this initiative by Maestro Kent Nagano and the OSM for some 200 children from the Pointe-de-l'Île School Board," said Roman Oryschuk, chairman of the board of directors of the evenko foundation. "To our knowledge, this is the first of its kind in Quebec. We are particularly excited to see the project implemented and its results, especially with kindergarten children who will receive intensive courses in piano, violin, and singing."

Last spring, the foundation celebrated its one-year anniversary by announcing a donation of more than $300,000 in musical instruments and funds to 23 organizations and schools throughout Quebec. Its generous donations make it possible to stimulate and foster young peoples’ interest in the performing arts, notably by offering them scholarships and training in dance, music, song and comedy.
